The 12th Year

Twelve years ago today ... my dad had a heart attack and died.

I wonder if he was still alive today, would it just be my mom & dad going to Europe to celebrate my moms 80th birthday.

Would they have celebrated her 75th birthday going to Rome?
Would they have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary (5 years ago) in Paris?

I pray that he will be with us.

In Pisa.
In Venice.
In Paris.

Dear Blog,

Happy 8th year to the both of us!

I wish we had more happy moments than sad.  I wish our dreams have come true by now.  But we are still alive, we still have our health, we still have a job that pays the bills.

I want to still be hopeful.

The dream to be writing for Awesome Show has not come true yet.  I'm just disappointed about the quality of shows in TV, will there be anything awesome anymore??

The novel is yet to be completely finished.  Reading stories of authors that they got their lucky break, just when they've given up has given me hope.

1.  Congratulations to Homeland ... Mad Men can't win all the time.  I still wanted Downton Abbey to win, but they won an award in the Mini Series category during the past Emmys.

2.  Jon Cryer whaaat?!?!?!?!  Sure ... maybe voters didn't want to give another Emmy to Jim Parsons, but TAAHM is no longer funny ... I wonder how close the votes were.

3. Congratulations to the Modern Family wins!

4.  I'm going to have to watch Game Change ... only to see if maybe this was more of a "political" choice, rather than a "best in category" choice.

  Well, lately I've just been watching NICK an TV Land.  Nothing on TV to watch except on these two stations.  I really enjoy watching The Cosby Show!  Wonderful characters, wonderful writing.  I really wish there were more TV shows with familes like these.

New Windows?

Late last night (around 9pm), I heard knocking on my door.  I wasn't expecting anyone so i ignored that person.

It might have been someone for me next door neighbor.
It might have been a psycho.
It might have been a solicitator.

Anyways, this morning ... I found a hand written note from my apartment manager.

We will change your front windows

I was really excited and couldn't wait until I came home.

But nothing was changed, and now I'm wondering it is because I didnt open my door.

Apartment Maintenance Day

My apartment managers had posted a notice on everyones door that they will be entering our apartments for the purpose of "future investors"... specifically CHASE.  They were to be in the area from 1pm to 3pm.  Since it was my day off ... I decided to go shopping.

When I came back, I noticed that my blinds were halfway open.  The plug for my mini fan was unplugged.  And the lights for my floor lamp didn't turn on.  I thought this was a bad time for needing a new light bulb.

But the unplugged mini fan was bothering me.  Did I unplug it when I went away for the weekend?  And then ... just like that ... I looked at the light switch .... it was on OFF

I have to tell you that for SEVERAL YEARS my light switch that my floor lamp was "connected" to NEVER worked.  I was too lazy to tell my apartment managers.  I was just used to turning the lights on and off by twisting the knob on the lamp.

Today I walked over to the light switch .... placed my hand on the wall .... thought to myself ... will this work?

Flip Up.

Lights On.

Halfway done ... and I must say ... I'm glad I bought the book ... I can't read it while riding the bus ... but it is definitely taking my mind off stress at work!

I'm going to HAVE to buy the whole trilogy!!

I checked the "B" library ... and they are finally going to have the first book in their collection.

I find myself blushing while reading this book at work.  I'm actually a lot less stressed out.  I take a full break just reading ... and not really eating (Christian would hate that).

I found myself hoping no one sits next to me in the bus!  Please, please, please DO NOT glance over and read ... because there is a whole lot of STUFF happening in almost every chapter!

New Guilty Reading!!

I decided to BUY the book!

I went to Barnes & Noble and decided to buy Fifty Shades Of Grey!!

The store had the whole triogy on a table right next to the cashiers.  I could have just grabbed a book and lined up, pay, and leave.

But I decided to scope out the books.  Walk around the store.  Then come back again.  No one was in line.  Looked over all the books, found one that seemed "nicer" than the others.  Then went to the cashier.

I really hoped that the guy behind the register did not judge me!!

The Hunger Games

Had just finished the book yesterday and wanted to see the movie with everything fresh on my mind. I wanted to see what all the hype was about with the film, since I thought the book was good, but I didn't think it was fantastic.

Now my only question is ... Why was Senaca Crane such a big part of the movie, and not in the book?? I don't even think his NAME come up in the book (but I should look over it quickly).

I think I'll buy the books, but I don't think I'll buy the DVDS.

Paying The Bills

I just found out that (*) had been let go from the job. Which makes me sad because PEOPLE NEED WORK TO PAY THE BILLS.

I know of two people in the last week who have been let go of the job already, and now interviews are being set to replace them. Here I am feeling sorry for people, when I have a job ... that can pay the bills ... but I'm DREADING what Monday is going to be for me.

Has it been that long.

I wasn't on planning on borrowing this movie from the library, I actually only went to the library to return the CD's that were due ... but I might have made the trip worth it by borrowing something else ... and this movie seemed to be the only interesting one in the shelves.

I'M ACTUALY HAPPY I BORROWED IT! MIGHT ACTUALLY BUY A COPY FOR MY COLLECTION.

For some reason, most of my interest deals with the class that Julia Roberts character was teaching ... "The Art Of Informal Remarks", that's something I would actually want to teach.

I enjoyed the characters ... enjoyed the story ...

I don't understand why it didnt get such "good" reviews.

For my birthday yesterday, a friend of mine took me to the movies to see Hugo. We decided NOT to go to an AMC Theatre and go somewhere else instead.

One of my co-workers has been telling me how much she liked going to the new Laemmle Theater in North Hollywood ~ so that was the place to go.

The movie was wonderful ... and it was about watching (and creating movies) too.

It's been awhile since I've said I'll probably buy a movie when it goes out on DVD ... Now ... I'll definitely get this.

Every Friday I have time to watch probably 30 minutes worth of Live With Kelly, on todays show, Jerry O'Connell was the guest host. He had talked about the Knicks game with the Lakers tonight. When he started to talk about the Linsanity going on in New York, I really didn't know anything about Jeremy Lin ... It was only when Jerry O'Connell described how Kobe didnt know who he was also (but in an arrogant way) ... I really wanted Knicks to BEAT Lakers baaaddd!!

From time to time, I watch a game, and this time I just wanted to see what the Linsanity was about and that the Lakers lose!!

Tonight was a good night to watch the game!!

Going The Distance

I finally got the DVD in the library!!

Sadly ... after watching the movie ... I'm really bummed that I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL.

The writing was bad .... there was soo much F-bombs ... i wanted to try watching it again and mute the F-bomb moments ... but I don't think it would have matter .. I didn't like any of the characters.

I'm really glad I didn't pay to see this.

I still want to own a bookstore.

I think that's why I love watching Notting Hill & You've Got Mail.

It saddens me that bookstores are closing. Borders have closed! Some Barnes & Noble locations are closing! Some independent bookstores are closing as well.

I really don't understand why people would prefer e-books!!

Book Club

I've decided to really commit and join a book club and actually go to meetings!! The first book we will be reading is IN HER SHOES. I've kept passing on reading this book because the movie was "OK" to me.

But now ... just reading the book .... I actually think it's much better. Can't wait to finish reading, then maybe watch the DVD again.

Work In Progress

I just found out that one of my co-workers got fired.

It's hard to think that someone that I've worked with for 8 years won't be there tomorrow. I don't know why he was let go, I don't know where he'll be working afterwards, but I feel numb.

I'm glad that I have a job. But I'm here because I need the income. I can't say that he is devastated...I'm sure he wanted to be doing something else, but now, what will he do about income?

I've been watching Master Chef and It's inspiring to hear the contestants say "I quit my job to be a chef"...but can they really survive without enough income.

I digress. Sorry.

I pray that he gets a job soon.

Crazy Stupid Love

I wasn't planning on watching this movie at all. But I had M.S. work to do, and decided to watch this for the job.

First of all, Ryan Gosling is sooo FN Hot in this movie!!!

Second of all, I did not expect that "twist" regarding "Nana" ~ do not want to give any spoilers.

This was nicely written. And I think I might even buy it when it comes out in DVD.
